This Australia Day, Redcliffe’s Suttons Beach is having a true blue celebration as one of the three host sites across the Moreton Bay Region for Australia Day Events.
People of all ages are invited to celebrate Australia’s National day by bringing a picnic blanket or chairs along to the free council event at Suttons Beach off Marine Parade, Redcliffe between 10am and 4pm.
Lets hope the weather is fine and we can celebrate the only way we know how , with a little ray of sunshine.
From mud crab races, ice cream eating contests and barbeque cook-offs to beach and water activities there’ll be something to keep the whole family entertained.
It gets underway from 10am with a live DJ and karaoke, before the high stakes mud crab auction and race at 11.30am.
By lunchtime all the attention will turn to the race track where the flag will be lifted on the highly anticipated annual mud crab race.
There will also be a giant inflatable aqua park, providing endless fun in the water for all.
Fun and games will continue all day with heaps of giveaways, not to mention craft and food markets before some of the local butchers fire up the barbie to compete for bragging rights and the 2012 cook-off crown.
It is set to be a great day with the Australian Flag dropping from the sky on the beach and sand between your toes, it’s just the Australian thing to do.
Sponsors and supporters of the event include the Redcliffe and Bayside Herald, Village Motors, Sails Restaurant, Redcliffe Peninsula Surf Life Saving Club, Europcar and Rays Outdoors.
