A large crowd of spectators were treated to a great atmosphere of rowing when the BMD Northcliffe boat crew raced away to a comfortable win in the aussieBum Queensland Cup at Redcliffe on Saturday. In near perfect conditions, the Drew Griffith swept crew easily headed home the Currumbin Huskels in the Open Men’s final. Metropolitan Caloundra White and Mooloolaba Makos struggled to find the boat speed that they displayed earlier in the season and had to be content with filling the minor placings. The win by BMD Northcliffe stopped a clean sweep by the Sunshine Coast crews who recorded wins in all the other divisions. Kawana Waters Specials turned in their best result for the season going one place better than last week to win the Open Womens final from Currumbin Valkaries. Alexander Headlands had wins in the Under 23 Mens, the Under 19’s and the Masters while Mooloolaba continued their winning form in the Under 23 Women’s and the Reserves.
