Serious assault of police officer and taser deployment, Deception Bay A man and a woman have been charged following an incident at a Deception Bay address where two officers were seriously assaulted. Police were last night called to the Gregory Avenue address in relation to a disturbance. When they arrived the man allegedly became violent and resisted arrest by punching and kicking resulting in one officer being knocked unconscious. During this time it is alleged the woman also became violent attempting to assault the senior constable. The senior constable was forced to deploy his taser after the man allegedly continued to kick the unconscious constable to the head. The deployment of the taser allegedly allowed the officer to apprehend the man and call for back up. The 24-year-old man and the 21-year-old woman have been charged with one count each of serious assault, assault police and obstruct police. They will both appear in the Redcliffe Magistrates Court on February 8. Both officers were treated for their injuries and have been released from hospital. The officer who was knocked unconscious is suffering bruising to his face, head and lacerations to his upper body. Views: 286 |
