Redcliffe Community Grants

 

Redcliffe based community organisations have shared in more than $50,000 in the second round of Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Community Grants Program for 2012/13.

 

Division Five councillor, James Houghton, said seven various groups across the Redcliffe Peninsula had been successful in securing funding for specific projects.

 

“This funding which will help community organisations assist our community across wide a spectrum of interests and endeavours,” Cr Houghton said.

 

Redcliffe projects which have received round two funding include:

  • $1,223 for Meals On Wheels to purchase kitchen equipment
  • $5,000 to the Redcliffe Seaside Village Traders for the development of a Discover Redcliffe smart phone application
  •  $4,250 for the Moreton Bay Arts Council to facilitate workshops and rejuvenate vacant commercial spaces
  • $5,000 to develop a business plan for the Queensland Sports Museum
  •  $9,968 to the Redcliffe Musical Theatre for the production of Phantom of the Opera
  •  $6,138 to air condition the Wallum Centre
  • $14,377 for the installation of two grandstands at the Peninsula Football & Sporting Club

 

Division Six councillor, Koliana Winchester thanked the hard working groups who had helped give back to the Redcliffe community.

 

“These community grants will help seven groups across the Peninsula see their initiatives become a reality,” Cr Winchester said.

 

“From the applications we received in this round, 69 percent were successful in securing funding totalling $200,000 for a variety of initiatives across the Moreton Bay Region.”

Applications for the next round of Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Community Grants Program are open from July 1 to August 31, 2013.
